The year 2014 has been a challenging year for Larry and Kelly Kranson. Kelly is my younger sister. Larry and Kelly have two beautiful children, a 3 year old son Noah, and a 2 year old daughter Claire.
On 8/25/14, Noah had a bone marrow biopsy that confirmed he has ALL. This is Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. He started chemotherapy immediately and had a Port surgically placed. According to his doctors and medical staff, Noah has an 85-90% chance of complete eradication of this terrible disease. In order for Noah to make a complete recovery, he will have to undergo three years of treatment, with the first six to eight months being the most intensive.
Kelly and Larry have faced many adversities this year. They both started new jobs and cannot use FMLA yet to be home with Noah. The entire family has had hospitalizations and or surgeries this year. This has created some debt that is quite burdensome to my sister and her husband. We often take for granted our health and the health of our children. Finding out that Noah has Leukemia, has completely shifted our perspectives on what things in life are truly important.
Noah has always been a happy, loving, smart little boy. He came into this world surrounded by family and friends that loved him even before he was born. He is our sweet little Noah Bear. Noah is going through intensive chemotherapy that leaves him with little energy to play with his sister or interact with his family. The treatment will take over 3 years to complete. I like to think that my little Noah Bear is training for an endurance event like Ironman. When he finishes treatment in 3 years, he will be our Ironboy!
My hope for our Noah bear is that our family, friends, and community lock arms in support around this precious little boy. He has given every person he has met so much happiness and love in his 3 short years. Let us teach Noah that kindness and love towards each other can make miracles happen. Many friends, family and people in the community have been asking how they can be of help to Noah and his family. It is simple. Say a prayer, send positive energy their way, help ease their financial burden by donating money, make a meal and/or attend our fundraiser dinner.
